Appliance Repair
1. I wanted to let you know that we needed to have some service on a “sick” washing machine. It is a Kenmore from Sears that we bought in 1999. I thought it was a belt but it was a transmission coupling the machine doesn’t have any belts or pulley’s. The service man came and diagnosed the problem and fixed it in less than 1 hour. He charged us $77.10. He was pleasant and professional. 2. We needed to have someone look at our washing machine. We used Kirtley's Appliance Service and were very pleased with the results. 4. (A) I just had some collision damage on my car repaired at Travis Collision. I chose Travis, in large part, based on the recommendations on the Website. The work done was absolutely superb. On top of that, his charge was 20% lower than the next higher quote. So I second the recommendation (B) I also have been using Dale's Auto Service since they took over the location from Gary's. 5. I recently had an extremely pleasant and satisfying experience purchasing a car at Century BMW in Greenville (864-234-6437). Century's attitude was 'how can we meet YOUR needs' and 'we are grateful for YOUR business'. They, and especially my salespeople, Libby Webster and Bob Whiston, were extremely competent, courteous and willing to negotiate. They also arranged for my wife and me to pick up our car at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg, an exhilarating experience that I highly recommend and that comes at no additional cost (a day at the driving school alone usually costs $650 or more). It includes a night at the Marriott in Spartanburg, with dinner and breakfast, followed by a half day of hands-on driving various BMWs in the BMW performance driving school with highly qualified instructors on slalom, breaking, skip-pad and off-road courses, and a chance to take a few laps as a passenger in one of the "M" cars. This is followed by a tour of the BMW assembly plant and museum, then lunch, then an hour plus presentation and tour of your car. 6. The dragonlady backed into a pole in a downtown parking lot a couple weeks ago. I couldn't have been driving more than 5 miles per hour but the rear bumper was dented with a small hole in the middle. I was shocked when Hill's Body Shop quoted me a price of $493. I called Travis Collison listed under the homeowner's referral service but all I got was a recording stating that the number I called is not accepting incoming calls. Not wanting to spend $493 I figured that I would live with the minor dent until another Kenmurian Dick Kirkman told me about Leroy Roberts. Leroy did a fantastic job fixing up the bumper, it is like brand new and and Leroy charged a lot less than Hill's! 5. Our home was built in 1991 and was in need of updating. We were referred to Kevin Willeford by Cheryl Smith, Interior Decorator. Kevin is known for accepting smaller jobs that other contractors do not want to deal with. He did a beautiful job of remodeling our master bath. The project involved laying tile for the floor and shower, wallpaper, construction of walls with relocation of electrical outlets, installation of light fixtures, and installation of all bathroom plumbing fixtures. He managed the entire project and arranged for other contractors as needed. We appreciated his attention to detail and always making sure that the project was done to perfection. 6. Rick Buchanan of Buchanan Construction completed construction on my home in Kenmure in 2007. I bought the home with an unfinished basement and asked Rick to start the process of finishing the basement the day I moved into the house. Rick and his team did a fantastic job of finishing the basement so that it blends in perfectly with the rest of the home. He used the same top quality materials downstairs that were used upstairs. Carpet
1. We would like to recommend Capps Carpet Installation. Owner Jerry Capps was to give us an estimate on new carpet for our new home in Kenmure. When he saw the existing carpet, he recommended restretching instead of installing new. He restretched all the carpet in the entire house and it looks like new. There was no baseboard damage as a result either. He has guaranteed his work. Jerry works for Merrill Paint as their carpet installer. 2. I would highly recommend Serge Villeneune for any type of carpet repair or installation. We had some water damage in our lower level and needed to replace an area about four foot by six foot which was in a hallway and linen closet. Driveway Sealing
Scruggs Asphalt Sealcoating recently sealcoated our drive and did an excellent job. They were less expensive than some of the local companies, were quick to respond, did exactly what was agreed upon, and were extremely cooperative and easy to work with. They were very careful around the walls, steps, garages, etc and were careful not to get any sealer on the flowers and plants. Floors
Before moving in, we had the first floor carpet replaced with hardwood floors by Showcase Hardwood Flooring. The work was completed when agreed to meet our move in date. Electrical

1.We highly recommend Tony Nix Electric if you are in need of any electrical work. Tony currently has a two man operation made up of himself and Danny Nelon. Danny wired our house when it was built in 2002. He installed our back-up generator, waterfall lighting and pumps plus numerous other specialty items besides your typical lighting and wiring. We have had the two of them out here a couple of times since the house was built to do some modifications/repairs and they do a great job. They are very professional and honest. Family Reunions
Our whole family (16) gathered here over the fourth. To honor such a rare occasion a family picture was taken. We had decided to color coordinate the five families for the photograph and after some research we found a very helpful company in Wilmington, NC where we could order shirts for reasonable prices in all sizes from youth size 4 up to men's extra large in matching colors. (We chose three shades of blue, which worked well.) The quality of the shirts is very good. Garage Door Repair

He replaced our broken spring and its companion, replaced five worn pulley wheels, added safety wires to all four springs, and adjusted everything so both doors run quieter and more smoothly than before. 2. Murdoch has moved to Etowah and their premises have been taken over by a new operation. The new operation is called Golf Cart Center and is owned and run by John Lowry and his son Matt. I had my cart serviced by them today (07/13/05). They pulled out and cleaned all the batteries, they scraped off some corrosion on the underframe and painted it. Topped off all the batteries and replaced the battery tie down rods. Total cost was $98. John is a long time resident and has spent many years in the local automobile industry. He understands "customer service". John sells new and re-conditioned EZ-GO and Club Cars. He will service any brand golf cart. 1. We are remodeling a home in Kenmure and would like to offer the name of our painter and all-around handyman. Homer Freeman owns Helping Hands. Joanne & I would like to recommend 777 JUNK for removing all of those items in the basement that just seem to collect over time. Habitat is a good place for items of value and usefulness to others but we are talking about the miscellaneous junk that clutters up the basement. Things like old packing boxes left over flower pots, old fixtures following a remodeling, etc. We saw the blue truck with 777 JUNK painted on the side parked in the Fresh Market parking lot. We gave them a call and they arrived on time and completed the job quickly and in a very professional manner. We cannot recommend Kyle Davis and 777 JUNK more highly if you have accumulated those "things" that clutter up the basement ... that is 777 5865 and consider it gone! 10. If anyone needs a good handyman for renovations, repairs, painting etc. I have used a local man that I would highly recommend. He painted my entire condo and did an excellent job. He is trustworthy and can do practically anything. He is a member of an ATV rescue team and the Green River Volunteer Fire Department. He also teaches ATV safety at Blue Ridge Community College. When our AC compressor began having problems, we called in two well-known providers of service for heating and air conditioning here in Kenmure. We asked them to quote replacement of the entire system since a new AC compressor was going to require upgrades for compatibility with the existing furnace. Mike Morrison of McNutt Service Group came out to talk to us about our problem and spent a great deal of time going over all of our options. He was extremely thorough, professional and personable.

Several people we know in Kenmure had their entire system replaced by McNutt and recommended them to us. We were not disappointed. The installation went very smoothly, and the technicians were ultra sensitive to protecting the house and property from any damage. When the job was finished they cleaned up down to the last corner.

McNutt was most fair in their pricing. The other company mentioned above was considerably more for the same Lennox products. Spending a bundle on a new heating/cooling system is not something anyone relishes, so we were quite ready to give them our business. 1. We have had a very positive experience with C & S Painting (Brian Cannon and Chris Savage) for the outside of our home. After waiting for almost a year for a painter highly recommended elsewhere in this Contacts List who kept telling us "soon" we finally gave up. We called C & S who came out right away and gave us a quote substantially less than the other "too busy" painter. They had a lower price and did more work and included the highest quality paint. That saved us a lot of money! They started when we agreed, coordinating with a contractor doing some carpentry work. The workers were all polite. They did an excellent job in painting the entire exterior of our home, including a change in color, hence requiring 2 coats. 8.Pisgah Pets and Plants – Over the year-end holidays, we were out of the country for over three weeks. When we learned of the snowstorm which left our pet/ house sitter “snowed in” and the subsequent ice storm which left her with limited power in the house, we felt helpless to do anything--but thankful we had the right person caring for our dogs. Moya Burns is a mature, responsible, married woman whose only job is professional dog sitting, i.e. she doesn’t divide her time between the care of your pets and other responsibilities. She takes our dogs for long walks (even though we have a fenced yard), has trained them to behave better, generously shares her knowledge of dog care, products, and nutrition, and has shown a genuine affection for our little “darlings”. Our neighbor, Nick Weedman (who checked on her during those storms) shares our view that she is the best we’ve ever had. Oh yes, she also takes good care of our plants and bird feeders—an added bonus! Septic Services
I had my septic tank pumped October, 2009 by Duane Lyda Septic. Five years ago he charged me $200 and this time $575 which to me seems like gouging. He also said the exit valve from my tank was bad and wanted $850 to repair it. I checked around and found the going rate was $175. I can not recommend this company. Gene Snyder 692 0401

Lee's Stone Masonry and Landscaping - Phone: 582-0123. We recently hired this one-man company to cover our front porch and sidewalk with natural stone - and he did a superb job. He was very dependable, starting the project when he said he would, and coming every day for two weeks until the job was completed. He was easy to work with, the quality of the finished job was exceptional, and his pricing was very fair. In addition to stone work, he also repairs drain pipes and installs French drains. Tile Installation I would like to recommend Mark King for your ceramic tile work. He recently replaced vinyl flooring in two baths and a laundry/office area for us. His price was competitive and his work very well done.
